  • Minor cough/sneeze, eating normally
  • Ear infections without severe swelling
  • Minor limping, walking okay
  • Mild diarrhea/vomiting, alert
  • Small lumps, not rapidly growing
  • Dental cleanings
  • Medication refills

URGENT

Needs Same-Day Care
Needs attention, but not immediately life-threatening

  • Persistent vomiting/diarrhea
  • Not eating 24+ hours
  • Moderate pain, torn nail
  • Fever without collapse
  • Eye squinting/redness
  • Straining to urinate (still passing)
  • Breathing faster than normal
  • Mild allergic reaction (breathing okay)
  • Minor wounds, abscesses
  • Post-op concerns (mild swelling)

EMERGENCY

Life-Threatening / Come Now
Do not wait!

  • Trouble breathing, blue gums, choking
  • Uncontrolled bleeding
  • Hit by car, trauma, broken bones
  • Seizures lasting >5 minutes
  • Collapse, unresponsive
  • Swollen abdomen with retching (bloat)
  • Heatstroke with collapse
  • Toxin ingestion (chocolate, xylitol, grapes)
  • Unable to urinate (especially male cats)
  • Severe allergic reaction
  • Difficult labor
  • Sudden blindness
